QA Academy
Learn, Test, Repeat
QA means deciding if a product is safe to put in front of customers and owning the call. Judging risk, communicating clearly, verifying what was generated, and walking through real scenarios including physical-device testing, automation, and leadership.
Why I Founded QA Academy
The story behind this platform

Peter Souza Jr.
Founder, QA Academy
Hi, I'm Peter β founder of QA Academy.
I've always been a builder. Before tech I worked in construction: if it doesn't hold up, it fails. That same mindset took me from manual QA to automation to Quality Lead at a major financial institution.
I didn't go to a university or lean on alumni networks. I went to a bootcamp and pieced the rest together from YouTube, Stack Overflow, and a lot of trial and error. It was a slow and scattered process.
That's why I built QA Academy: one structured place to learn real QA at your own pace. Everything here comes from real-world experience.
Anyone willing to stay consistent, adapt, and learn from mistakes can find success in QA, no matter how unconventional their background is.
If you're ready to put in the work, I've got your back. Let's get started.
No card required β practice triage like a real QA
π What is Quality Assurance?
It's not just "finding bugs" β it's preventing disasters.
Quality Assurance is the art and science of building confidence in software and devices before they reach real users.
Think of QA as the guardian between brilliant code and real-world chaos.
A missed bug in a banking app?
Lost money and broken trust
A flaw in medical software?
Patient safety at risk
A glitch in a self-driving car?
Lives at stake
"Great software doesn't just work, it works reliably, securely, and delightfully."
QA professionals are the ones who catch these, and prevent them.
If AI is writing the code, why learn Quality Assurance? π€
AI is good at first drafts: code, tests, tickets, basic reviews. A green check is not a release decision. advanced AI models can not inspect a piece of software or a physical component with a human perspective, wth the users in mind. Faster shipping needs more people who can read what was generated and own the final quality call.
You are not learning to beat a model at typing tests.
You are learning the part that does not go away .
QA Academy lets you practice this on the paths, especially Manual QA (owning the call) and SDET (verifying what AI generated).
π Why QA is Now One of the Best Tech Careers Because of AI
The world is shipping more software than ever. All of it needs trusted QA.
Software eating the world
Every app, device, car needs QA
AI can't replace human judgment
QA requires creativity, empathy, risk thinking
Remote-friendly & global demand
Work from anywhere, high salaries
Low barrier to entry
No CS degree required β start fast
Clear career ladder
Manual β Automation β SDET β Lead β Manager
AI-proof & AI-powered
AI speeds up development, making skilled human-powered QA more essential and valuable than ever
- Manual QA path β why βsafe to shipβ is a judgment call, not a green check
- SDET path β automation that holds up when AI wrote the tests
- Leadership path β what to tell the team when the suite is green and the product is not
π€ QA in the Age of AI
AI isn't replacing QA β it's supercharging the need for great QA professionals.
What AI Accelerates
- Code generation & features
- Rapid releases
- Automated test generation
What QA Now Owns Even More
- Validating correctness & user impact
- Safety-critical validation
- Strategy, exploration, risk judgment
You're not learning to survive AI.
You're learning to thrive because of it.
βοΈ A Day in the Life of a QA Engineer
No two days are the same, but here's a typical flow:
π Morning
- Standup meeting with developers
- Review new features
- Plan testing approach
βοΈ Mid-day
- Execute tests (manual + automated)
- Explore edge cases ("what if the network drops?")
- Write clear bug reports with steps & screenshots
π Afternoon
- Collaborate on fixes
- Run regression test suite
- Update test cases
- Share quality report with team
β Bonus
Many QAs automate repetitive tests, by writing code to make their job easier (and more valuable).
Some SDETs even fix production bugs themselves.
The best part?
You directly improve products millions use, and prevent real problems.
That workflow is what the lessons train, not a speech on the homepage. View all lessons.
